Protect Your Documents No Matter Where You Send or Store Them

Vigilant Privacy Software will protect sensitive information no matter where it’s stored or how it is sent. Vigilant is the easiest to use and most secure product available to protect valuable business data and confidential personal files such as tax records, marketing plans, financials, pictures, music,  and more. Securely send sensitive information to other people over the Internet.  Place files on shared drives for workgroup access, or store files on removable media, all with confidence.  Vigilant fully integrates with Microsoft desktop. Files used  in applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel will be automatically decrypted and encrypted without any extra steps. Each time you encrypt a file or folder, it will display a small lock overlay to visually demonstrate that it is safely secured. When additional files need encryption, it’s as simple as drag and drop, right click, or by selecting encrypt button on the ICON bar!  When you want to send files to other people, you can choose them by name and only they can open your files. Everyone else, including hackers receive a message: "This was not encrypted for you".

Protection from creation to destruction. File and document encryption is the ONLY method to keep your information safe. Secure email, disk encryption, and other technologies all expose your documents at some point. Remove an attachment from secure email to your desktop; it is unencrypted. Encrypt your hard drive; then when you connect to a network or the Internet, it looks unencrypted to hackers. Store your files on an encrypted shared drive; the files will be decrypted when someone copies them off.  File encryption is the only way to protect your documents!

Data Recovery Service. You never have to worry about being unable to read your files. Even if you lose your decryption keys, just send your encrypted files to us. We will recover them for you. This is an installation option.

Encrypt with Password allows you to send encrypted files to people that do not have Vigilant installed.

Faster Encryption Speed.  Vigilant encrypts with Triple DES twice as fast as before. This is specially helpful with protecting large files.

KEY FEATURES

Defends against all threats. Prevents data and communications from being unintentionally intercepted or accessed by others. Even if you computer is stolen, or your files are intercepted, your information will be protected.

Protect any kind of file. Documents, spreadsheets, music, pictures, everything.

Folder Encryption. An entire folder and all of its contents can be encrypted or decrypted at one time.  This is handy for developers or workgroups who need to work on or share entire folders. Or, when you install Vigilant, just highlight all your folders and encrypt everything at once.

Automatic call-up of applications, such as Microsoft Word or Excel after decryption of a file. Open an encrypted Word document, it will be decrypted and opened inside Word.

Automatic encryption of the file when closing from within Microsoft or other applications. When finished, simply close the Word document and Vigilant will re-encrypt it automatically to keep it secure.

Protects Everywhere. Send files via email or store them on CD, USB hard drive, floppy, shared drives.

Sign Critical Documents with secure, digital signatures for approvals such as purchase orders, expense accounts, etc.

Use Aladdin or Rainbow or other tokens and smart cards as a removable key storage device so keys remain with you.

Your protected files will have a Lock or Seal on them. The file with a lock on it is encrypted so only you and people you specify can access it. The Seal means that the document has been signed by one or more people (a digital signature).

Easy to Use.  Automatically encrypts and decrypts files and  documents while you work on them.  Drag them to the Vigilant Icon on your desktop and they will be automatically encrypted and the originals "shredded". Your files are now safe on your PC. Vigilant will ask you to select other people by name so that you can choose who will be able to open this document. You then can email or otherwise send the secure files to those people without fear of it being opened by others. If you want to send a file to someone not having a copy of Vigilant, choose "Encrypt with Password". They can decrypt the file with a password. Another way to use Vigilant is to right-click on the documents anywhere in Windows and then choose from the security options as shown here. "Encrypt and Shred" will not only encrypt your file but will automatically shred the original so that no trace of it remains on your system.

When you need to work on your Vigilant protected files, just open it like you normally would - Click twice. Vigilant will decrypt it and open the application (Word, Excel, etc). When you are finished working on the file, just close it and Vigilant will automatically encrypt it again. Security could not be easier!

And, when you do encrypt or sign a document, the file remains where it was; on your desktop, in your folder, on a shared drive, anywhere. You don't have to store them all together in one "secure folder". They can be stored anywhere and yet be secure.

Multiple recipient encryption. When you encrypt a file, this menu appears (click twice on the thumbnail to enlarge it) allowing you to select specific people who will be able to read your file. An encrypted file can be opened only by these pre-selected list of people. You select the recipients, the file is encrypted by Vigilant, and the encrypted file can be sent to the list of people and only they can decrypt it. This is great for workgroup collaboration or small businesses when private or personal information is sent over the Internet.

Signing a file or document (without encrypting it). A digital signature on an unencrypted document allows everyone to read the document and to identify and verify the person that signed it and the date.

Multiple Signatures. You and others can pass a document around and everyone can sign the same document. The document properties will show you who signed it and when. This works well for purchase orders, project signoff, and when an indisputable signature trail is necessary.

Shred will completely remove any trace of your original file.

Vigilant uses the Microsoft Cryptographic Architecture.  Accepts certificates from Microsoft's Certificate Authority. CAPI is the industry standard for encryption on Windows computers and  the storage and safekeeping of user and recipient certificates. This provides compatibility and reliability for you.

PKI Compatible. Vigilant can create an X.509 certificate for you, or you can obtain one from another issuing authority such as your Microsoft Certificate Authority or an Internet certificate authority.

Vigilant created certificates are good for 100 years, not just one year as if you purchased them from a public issuing authority.

You can create as many certificates as you want. Maybe one for friends, one for business, one for personal accounting, one to hide things from your kids. 

Certificates can be used with other applications. Vigilant certificates can be used with Outlook, Netscape and other applications that require a certificate. Don’t go buy one.

No user involvement is necessary to distribute certificates. Certificates are automatically attached to encrypted documents and imported by the recipient. Other people need a copy of your certificate so they can encrypt files to send to you.

Vigilant can import thousands of recipient certificates with the click of the mouse using the certificate import utility.

Both RSA and the U.S. Government Digital Signature Algorithms are supported. Vigilant creates certificates using the RSA algorithm with keys of 1024 bits in length. If certificates from other certificate authorities are used, Vigilant will use the algorithm as specified in the certificate.

Meets regulatory requirements. Vigilant is compliant with HIPAA and California Privacy Laws
