The Difference That Makes The Difference. Back in the Spring of 1992 when we first started working on the computer version, I was discussing my approach with Dave Sausser, a friend of mine from California. Dave was explaining that what he really wanted to see was the DYNASTY Board game translated into a computer version. He did not want a "computer game". He wanted a game that played on the computer. As Dave explained; "I don't like magic. There's no transparency in other games. There's no real way of digging into it and figuring out what the logic is behind determining the results. That's the beauty of the table game. How does a player's range rating affect the game? You don't have a clue in other computer games on how ratings are used and when. In fact, you could have ratings that the computer never used and no one would know."

Realism You Never Thought Possible. Many times you can look back at a baseball game and find several "little things" that determined the outcome of the game. It might a foul ball that just makes the stands in the tiny foul territory in Fenway Park that gives a hitter another life or the swirling wind in Candlestick Park that turns a routine fly ball into an adventure for a visiting team player. It's one of the reasons why we love baseball. Realism and attention to baseball's subtleties is at the heart of the design of DYNASTY and is what makes the game so fascinating to play.

Features:

  • 3D Pie Charts and Pop Up Player Cards and Charts Give You A Unique Strategic Understanding of Play Results: Transparent system lets you see how play results are resolved — exposing all of the underlying realism in the game and giving you a critical strategic understanding of the logic behind determining the play results.
  • Ball Park HR and Extra Base effects: Balls will carry further on warm days in Wrigley Field than on cold nights in Candlestick Park in each of seven different outfield locations. The wind may blow out at alight 0-9 mph breeze or whip out at 20-29 mph with lots of souvenirs for the bleacher bums and fans on Waveland and Sheffield Avenues.
  • Weather: Will play an important and sometimes crucial role. Each region has it’s own weather effects broken down by month, day and night that determine temperature, sky, precipitation, wind direction and speed based on actual detailed weather data in that region.
  • Actual lefty-righty stats: A very sophisticated data base and program are used to create the player files using hundreds of statistical categories and adjustments. You’ll discover which left-handed hitters are vulnerable to lefty hurlers and which pitchers devastate right handed batters. Games will hang in the balance based on your strategic decisions on who to platoon, pinch hit, bring in from the bull pen or make a double switch with.
  • Situational pitching and hitting: Pitching out of a jam, rarely walking the leadoff man and giving up a low percentage of HR with runners on-base gives unsurpassed realism in duplicating pitcher ERA’s. Hitters who hit in the clutch will do the same for you.

    • Individual steal ratings for 2nd, 3rd and home/Pitcher pickoff and hold ratings: Are part of the cat and mouse game you’ll experience on the base paths.
    • Defensive ratings: Range, Error, Throwing, Double Play pivot, Passed Ball and Catcher handling of pitchers complete the defensive spectrum.
    • Intuitive Interface: It spoon feeds you — you open the application and you don’t have any menus, only buttons. The selection of lineups, pitchers, weather, etc. is very order oriented and follows common logic. The lineup screens are mouse-happy, and the actual play of the game, itself, is also point and click driven.
    • Visualization of Plays: Bang-Bang plays on slow rollers, diving stops of smashes up the middle, balls getting through deep into the hole, snow cone catches of sinking liners and diving catches of balls shot into the gap are just a small sampling of an incredible number of plays you’ll experience with the play-by-play text descriptions.
    • Bizarre Plays and unusual errors: #981 STADIUM WITH RF WALL 10 FEET OR LESS... Right fielder goes back to the warning track on deep drive, but loses it and it bounces off his head and over the wall for a HR.
    • The Commissioner’s Office: The DYNASTY League official rules provide you with a bidding style draft, 3 year contracts with guaranteed club options, buy out options, a prospect draft and a restricted talent pool to insure realism and allow for expansion.
    • Extra Innings: Intangible ratings, Team chemistry, Umpire strike zone ratings, Pitcher and Player use restrictions, pitcher endurance, wild pitch ratings, bunting ratings and hit and run ratings.

Included are 2 teams: ChiN 1969 and NYN 1969. Additional season sets available separately from $11.95 to $39.95. Game upgrades are FREE.
